Motorized cowel vent?

Does anyone have experience with motorizing the cowel vent. I am building a center console that will turn up from the hump to the dash. I need to be able to reach the lever for the cowel vent on my 36 Ford pickup which would leave a sizable hole in the top of the console. Any ideas and examples? Which motor to buy?

I also replaced the cowel vent gasket with a unit from Dennis. One side of the gasket is flat and the other is curved a bit. I placed the flat side down in the vent and it sits on the bottom in the grove. Does this get glued down? Is this upside down? It leaks when I wash the truck and it rains. I think I am missing something here.

I've just been working on installing one for the exact same reasons you described.I got a Watson Streetworks one.Just a little motor hooked up to a plastic gearbox. Motor with one gear turns a bigger gear that the arm is hooked up to.Just rotates to open and close with a push button switch. It looks a little flimsy, but maybe it will hold up.A 2" stroke linear actuater would work good, but you would need limit switches. This thing just keeps opening and closing till you let go of the switch.
