mounting diff to 1950 chevy truck

I want to put a ford 9 inch rear end under my 1950 chevy pickup. what do I need to do to mount it? do I need to change the spring mounts? where can I get the parts? I know I will need to narrow the housing. I plan on building a strong small block so i want a stout rear end.

Most leaf spring rear ends mount centered over the rear spring center bolts. This is not so with yours. It is mounted behind the center bolts because it has a torque tube type rear you can make your own offset rear end saddles to solve this problem or change location off springs or go to different type of rear suspension .Look and see what I am talking about then get back to me if you have more ???

NOT a 50 truck ... ( 1932 Ford chassis ) but the principal is the same ...

4 link riding on coils ... like a late 60's Chevelle

As for using your original springs ... I would remove a few leafs and then redrill the locating pin in the correct location. OR ... RB's Obsolete has a kit to install later open drive line rear ends under your truck ...

Go here for the kit ...

RB's also has a bolt in Mustang II IFS kit for your truck.

It is here ...
