Mounting Trans Cooler

I have a '41 Chevy Coupe with a 350sbc and a 700R4. Trying to decide where to mount a transmission cooler. The radiator is small and I don't want to cover up any more of the fins than I have to at this point.

I will be adding A/C so I'll have enough air restrictions the way it is without adding more.

Any suggestions ?

Thanx in advance

I mounted mine on the inside frame rail under the vehicle. If your using a aftermarket trans cooler, it is cooled by air, you don't need that much air to make the cooler work. If you mount it underneath, you make sure it's not in a position where rocks etc can hit it, but air will.

you dont want to mount your tranny cooler on or to your radiator beacuse the heat from the radiator will transfer to the trans cooler mount it on the a/c condenser

Actually you can - remember, the stock transmission cooler is INSIDE the radiator.

Also the condenser is hotter most times than the radiator is 250+ psi on the high side is pretty common with 134 and that dictates to 200+ degrees on the trans cooler as well.

I have run them under the car, in the radiator on door cars and under the radiator above the trans on my Mullis dragster and have never had issues with any overheating transmissions.
