moving a compressor, have a question

I need to move my compressor to my new place. The compressor is an upright style 2 stage w/ 80 gal. tank. It's too top heavy to move safely standing up in the box of a truck. If I drain the oil, will I mess anything up if I lay it on its side?

Paul

No problem moving it that way. Just let it set upright for a day or 2 before you use it in case any residual oil went past the rings. Good time for an oil change also.

moving a compressor

How about bolting it to 2 pieces of wood 2x4. That will keep it from rocking then strap it down to keep it from tilting the other direction. Or bolt it to 3x4 x 4ft. plywood, Or bolt it to a pallet, or bolt it to the bed of the truck. Na I am kidding on the last one....russ

Thank-you for the prompt replies. Just in time for tomorrow's move.

I appreciate the help.
