moving door hinges??????

we are trying to do something with these door hinges 1940 chevy pickup.
the hinges are really beat up on the truck and we would like to put them on the inside/out of sight... on idea is to do suicide door with door poppers, but we are a little nervous as we have never done this before, is there a kit that comes with everything needed like the hinges strikers and latches and if so what would be a good kit? or does anyone have any other ideas?

I have never seen any kind of real "kit" that would make the job easy. They call them "kits" but it's kinda like calling a stack of metal tubing that needs to be cut up and welded together a "Swing set kit". They really are simply a set of hinges with some VERY basic instructions for installation.

Let's wait for someone to respond to your post (or maybe make a new thread that is called "What suicide hinges to buy?") who has installed some of these AM hinges to see which ones would be better.

But generally, you need to buy the hinges, the latches and simply start the project with a thread here so you can get tips.

I've seen a guy do them and he wasn't very skilled and they turned out good. It was on one of those newer challengers.

We gave an estimate to do them on a newer Vette and the boss goes, "on the net it says you can just bolt them in and go." So the old man goes, "does this Vette have a front clip or a fender?". Boss goes, "front clip but we won't need to take it off." Old man replies, "sounds like a can of worms." hahahaha

There are some pretty complete real "kits" for the late model suicide and "lambo" doors that are surprisingly complete and with the Lambo, even bolt on. But for the 40 Chevy pickup I don't believe there are any "kits" other than four hinges in a box with a general instructions that are sent to every person who buys it regardless of the car it will be installed on, just generic instructions.

I don't know but I seriously doubt it. I have to tell you, it was a lot more of a challenge than any chopped top I have ever done, it just isn't that easy. I forget the time but the first door took me something like 40 hours, the second heck yes I kicked but and got it done in 10 or something like that. But it was pretty challenging doing it from scratch. With the "kits" it may be a lot easier if it has some good instructions, but they are miles from any kind model specific kit, they are very generic.
