MSD 6A all that?

Is there a noticable difference (fuel milage/horse power) between running a MSD multiple spark ignition like the 6A and not running one? Does anybody have any 1/4 mile ETs to compare before and after the MSD?

How does the Mallory multiple spark ignition compare to the MSD? The Mallory is a good chunk of change cheaper.

I think the Digital 6s are good. They are pretty expensive.

I did a bunch of research before I bought my ignition. I found that the Crane HI6 puts out more spark and is overall the best for the price. They are around $200. The have better components than MSD, and have a rev limiter that doesn't need pills. Also. there is a tach test feature that is nice to have. They have a self diagnostic that helps kee[ them from frying and tells you what may be wrong.

Spark boxes clean up your idle/cruise significantly below 3,000 RPMs.

If you have a stock motor it's not going to do anything for you. An upgraded HEI, module and coil, will work just as well, even up to 450 HP.

The Crane box has compatibility issues with the MSD distributors. You get what you pay for!

Is the compatibility issue with the MSD module. I just picked up MSD HEI distributor kit (module, coil, cap, rotor dust cover).

The HI6 is compatible with MSD distributors.

You read it wrong. In the Crane instructions it says that the HI6 isn't compatible with MSD ignition boxes. Why would you run both at the same time anyway?

MSD vs Crane

I had a Crane box with an MSD distributor. The carb would explode and catch fire at 4000 rpm. I called Crane and they told me that they were aware of the problem and return the box. I bought an MSD 6A and never had any ignition problems. But the MSD box would not work with my stock 3 wire tach. I had to buy an autometer tach.

i run a msd 6 al and have never looked back.the limiter works well, all adjustments are easy. very durable piece.

the stock GM hei is a good piece also, with factory reliablility(factory has quality pieces). i dont think any gains can be realized, unless your at a ultra high performance level with high compression and turbulent mixtures.

why ,cause both lite the fire just fine.
