Sounds correct to me. Old box or new? You can test the box by jumping a small piece of wire into the mag pickup harness after unplugging it, green and violet together, unhook the coil wire from the distributer, and let it sit about 1/2" from a metal engine part, find and touch the white wire to ground, and every time you do this, you should get a spark out of the coil wire. If you do not get a spark, change the coil, or look to make sure you have it hooked up properly. The boxes don't go bad that often but they do sometimes, But most of the time it's just hooked up wrong , it has bad connections, bad wiring on the car, or bad grounds. One mistake is hooking the small orange and red wires together on the coil, the only wires on the coil should be small orange on the + side of the coil and small black on the - side of the coil.

Careful which white wire you connect, one is for a switched ground that cuts off the ignition ie a kill switch; the other goes to tach. The tach plugs into the front. The white wire that runs with the red and others is for your kill switch. Don't hook either and try it. You will get fire only if the white wire isn't grounded (like laying on the fender well?). After you get fire, use the white for a kill switch and hide it somewhere.

You have it wired wrong, as per the installation PDF page 23 shows the white points trigger wire hooked to the black from the Pertrontic's Ignitor, the small Red is connected to the Red from the Pertronic's and together these two Reds are connected to the Red 12v+from the ignition switch.
You don't use the magnetic trigger green/violet according to the instructions. Wired much like a points system. |
