Msd 6btm

Running a blown 350 in a 52 Henry J. New build, mostly old stuff. It has a MSD dist and a 6BTM box, timing set at 30* at 2600. Problem is it goes on what sounds like a rev limiter at 4800, even with BTM knob disconnected. Running two Holly 780 double pumpers at 6 lbs. Engine dynoed at 566 hp on engine dyno. 6000 RPM pill checks out correctly on an ohm meter.

If the max timing is only 30 deg why use the btm at all?

Tske the rev chip out and leave it out.

Try reversing polarity of msg pick up wires.
But reset timing, it changes that.

Basic tune up. Spark plug gap too big.
Old/Burned cap, rotor. Fouled plugs.

Grounds and or spark box wireing error.

Just recently had a simular problem with a MSD unit and it turned out to be the unit was receiving less than 12 volts.
