MSD HEI ignition module looks plain

I checked inside the MSD street model HEI distribuitor and the ignition module looks like a cheap aftermarket unit, without even a brand name on it.

is this thing good?

thanks

Can't be sure, it may be a chinese knockoff (they like doing that) but finding one made in the USA is getting harder and harder. You might run it until it fries out and then replace it with a Textronic or Echlin (premium). These may still be made offshore but are better quality than most. You can also go to the dealer and buy the Delphi brand which will cost you 3x as much.

is there any way to know if this module is making the ignition perform at full potential? will I feel any symphtoms of faulty or missing ignition while running hard?

I mean the engine may not miss but the available voltage at the plugs may be too low?

I have used cheap modules and my engine revs near 6.000 without missing a beat, I don't plan on going further than 5.500 though.
