MSD Ignition.

Hello everyone. I am building a 383 for a 1957 Chevy truck 1300 series and I do need some advice as to which MSD distributor, ignition box, and coil to use? I am new to this and may sound a bit naive so please excuse me. The truck will be used for street use and will run on regular gas. Thanx in advance.

just a thought... assuming it will clear the firewall, you could use a stock gm hei ignition which is fine for the street. or you could upgrade it with a pertronix coil kit if you had the urge for something a little more custom.

6al and 7al ignition systems are great for race cars... they don't bleed off @ 7 grand and they have all the rev limiters and aux capability to shift or throttle stop or even turn on an electric fan.

personally for the street I'd go with the hei and put the extra cash in my pocket or in the motor paint or wheels.

Ignition

An HEI and a 6AL should be all you need. Check to see that you have a coil that is compatible with the 6AL. MSD will help you. I think a blaster III coil would work fine.
