timing advance jumps
I posted this yesterday and did as directed (change the plug wires and made sure they dont cross) but I still have the problem ....has anyone else had this problem......what did you do ?
On my 350 chevy I run a unilite breaker less distributor and a electronic ignition box. When I was chasing down a carb problem I checked the base timing (10 degrees) along with the total advance timing and noticed that at about 2000 rpm the timing would jump from 28 to 59 and at 2500 it bounces up to as high as 66! I did this with a digital timing light that shows base as well as total advance timing. I also did it old school by marking the 60 degree mark on my harmonic balancer. I still bounces up past the 60 degree mark. There also is a flutter in the engine right at the 2000 rpm range but clears up beyound that. Has anyone had this happen to them.........if so how did you remedy it?..............jerry
