Muffler idea!

So I wanted a new (cheap) exhaust for my 1988 Toyota Camry winterbeater.

On ebay I found a tractor muffler with the right size pipe diameter and it'd fit under the car ok so I bought it. What I got looks an awful lot like an old smithys glasspack.

It cost me about $15, it's made in USA by Stanley Muffler Co. Inc. (this is all I could get on the place) , part # FO-14 (2" inlet) and is pretty compact. Might not be a bad idea for those whose wives have put their rodding projects on a strict budget, and modern 'hot dog' shaped glasspacks don't look right on the project.

See pics...

Since I don't care for the flatulence provided by a japanese four banger, I'll probably use it as a resonator since it needs new pipes too- the exhaust pipe is nonexistant from a little behind the resonators on it (look like glasspacks...) to the 'muffler' which appears to have a wildlife nest hanging out the bottom.

Cool find, my father in law did the opposite. He used a cherry bomb on his old dozer, it looks pretty cool sticking up like a smoke stack

How'd it sound?

-----------technical service bulletin to my first post-----------
Yes I know the louvers kick up turbulence, reducing effective flow and thus power. For $25 shipped, you can't beat it though, especially on a lower-power application such as a flathead or other engine that's (usually) not a high compression high revving powerplant. Besides, if it's visible, it has rat rod appeal if you don't want the cops harping on you for having straightpipes.
