Multi Carbs for 454

I would like to put a multi -carb set up on my 454. I did a search here but most threads discussed SBC. I have looked at the web sites that sell webers, etc and they are big bucks. I would like to do 4x2's or 6x2's.
This is for a five window coupe and I just like the look. The engine is a 1979 fresh re-build, stock.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You might want to give these guys a try. If you don't see what you want....I'll bet they know where or how to get it.

It really depends on what you want the car to do. If it's for show only and get heads to turn as you pull into the cruise night event, the multi carbs may work. If it's performance and dependibility? Multi carbs will not work. Your engines works at a certain CFM range for mileage performance etc. When you run dual or more carbs you usually need to run much smaller CFM carbs, or as you mentioned a 2 bbl, etc. Running a stock engine, with which I assuming has stock heads, pistons, etc.,the dual setup will only hurt performance but the engine as well., In addition, dual or multi carbs need to be syncronized for them to run efficiently. They are often difficult to setup and dial in correctly compared to single carb setups. Personally, I wanted to run a dual setup but decided against it when I noticed several people were selling their setup and going with one carb. If you looking for the eye candy, I would consider a small supercharger instead. If you are set on going with dual or more carbs, I would also recommend going with a low rise intake versus a tunnel ram or high rise, particularly with a stock engine. My best advice is to keep the single carb.

If you are ambitious you could do this:

this is really cool and with some ( a lot) of tweaking and tuning can be made to run fine..

Thanks for the input.
trucknut, Thanks for the link to vintage speed. I don't see any applications for a 454 in their on-line catalog. I will give them a call though.

kleen 56, I understand some of the problems associated with multi carbs. I am running three deuces now. Or I should say, sitting in the garage with three deuces.....
On the vintage speed website they talk about only running two of their 6x2's for street application. What do you think?
I assume by a small supercharger you mean one with only one four barrel?

I don't do "shows" with the car. Drive around town, a few under 100 mile trips, and the local cruise nights. Completely stock with the exception of the current tri-power and sprint car headers.

one more time, thanks for the log manifold link.

Thanks,
Don

I've had the current set-up since the Spring. Let's just say, it's not working for me.
