multimeter reading to high: Why?
craftsmen digital multimeter reading 19 volts when should be 12. Not sure why the high reading

that is high for normal voltage.. but it just might be right too..

Thanks for the reply but i had checked against known source and it reads high when check household current as well.

Well if your house current is reading high as well I assume its reading above 126Vac that's whats allowed, I have seen as high as 130vac but its not common.
If your meter is out of range I think you have you answer already, buy a new one. I just picked up a spare one from sears (well I had to go twice to replace the first one since it was broken out of the box) |
multimeter reading high voltage
figured it out. It was to simple. The multimeter 9v battery was at 4.5 volts. when replaced with fresh battery brought the multimeter right back in range.
