Muncie 3 speed

I have a 70 Buick GS that came factory equipped with a heavy duty cast iron muncie 3 speed tranny

I cant seem to find any information on these tranny's. There's plenty of 4 speed info.

All Im looking for is decoding these #'s

GM3 3952646
B 240

Also these numbers are on a machined pad under the cover

H0C 19B

Any help appreciated

3 Speed Saginaw Transmission

I think i have a 3 speed Saginaw Transmission but not sure.

Numbers are as follows:

Left Side Cover GM 22-3952645
C 6 1
S 1 C 1 7 (serial tag)

Right Side:

GM 33
3925647
c 2 1
S11N556427

Tail
37 GM 3873886

Let me know what you think, is this a m22 rockcrusher 3 speed saginaw. The GM-22 on the side cover is throwing me off

That is a saginaw 3spd.

"Rockcrusher" transmissions (M22) were technically option code M22 for severe duty applications.

I'll spare you the boredom, just know that the only "Rockcrushers" are 4-speeds

Gear's right.

From here:

Type- Saginaw 3-speed manual
Years- 1970-'72 ( C 6 1= March 6, '71)
Main Case- 3925647
Extension Housing- 3873886
Side Cover- 3952645

The "GM-22" is a foundry marking, most likely.

ok thanks for the info, i actually got the entire transmission for free with the engine with 40000 original miles on it. Just trying to get info on these 3 speeds, i read that they were also in chevelles.

Not sure if these were the same type of gears.
