Muncie 4

I own a 1969 Chevrolet C10 pickup with a 350 ci engine and a muncie 4 speed transmission behind it. I'm not sure about the rear end ratio, but i do know it's huge. First gear redlines at like 5 mph. About how many ponies could I run through that transmission without shredding it? Thanks in advance.

GM's Muncie 4 speed was placed behind various high horsepower muscle cars like 435hp Vettes, 375hp Chevelles, and even the venerable 427 69 Camaro. Unless you are just ham fisted and cannot shift worth a flip the Muncie can easily handle 500hp.

Sounds like your truck had the 5.13's that found their way into many a truck in the 60's.

When you ordered a High Output engine in a GM vehicle with a 4 speed manual, you got 1 of the 3 versions of the muncie. They are stronger than folks give them credit for.
