Muncie 4-Speed

I am currently running a Muncie 4 speed with a zoom stage 2 street strip clutch and a gmpp flywheel. I am thinking about going with a TH-400 with a shift kit. My questions are do you think it would fit with my driveshaft or would I probably need to get another one? Also what all would I need? I found someone who has a th400 short tail shaft, 3000 stall, aluminum deep pan, hurst pro-matic shifter but I don't know if I need anything else or how much of a pain this would be. Any help would be appreciated!

driveshaft would be the same length and spline as a 350 turbo, 400 turbo has a shorter driveshaft and different spline.

Some cars require a different transmission crossmember when using a T-400.

why change?

Just curious - why would you want to give up the muncie 4 SP for the automatic?? Most folks want to go the other way? I have a THM 400 in my 68 Corvette - and would love to have the 4SP instead. Banging gears is much more fun

why change?

I had a pressure plate explode (no scatter shield) on me in 1974. It cut the brake lines , broke the throttle & distributor, cut the trans tunnel open from one side to the other.

That started me on my path of automatics transmissions.

Some cars do need a manual trans.. a Corvette is one of those cars ......... IMHO

Mostly because I am going to put a pro charger on it this winter and with the motor being 700-800 hp at the wheels I think an auto with a shift kit might be a little better for it. Then again I don't know for sure right now because since this car will spend 95% of its life as a street car a 4 spd on the street is alot of fun

An Overdrive automatic would be nice such as a TH2004R or TH700R4 but would cost $$ to make it live behind 800HP. The TH400 will be much cheaper to build for that power level. For a strong 2004R check here, he's in Ohio.
