Muncie M20 Won't go into first gear

I have a Muncie M20 that I serviced with new bearings and syncros. I have never used this transmission before the service. It won't go into first gear, I adjust the linkage and first will work but second gear won't. I adjust again and I'm back to the original problem with no first. Could this be the shifting forks worn out? Thanks

Could be a number of problems

Shift forks worn out
Synchro drums worn out
Side plate installed incorrectly
Engagement teeth on gears worn

If you have a Hurst shifter, this could be as simple as a badly misadjusted shifter stop on the shifter main body. Have a look.

My vote is the shifter stops.
