muncie question

ok guys , i did a search and couldn't come up with much. i'm putting a 64-65 m20 into my chevelle and this is the first manual trans i've ever worked with. my questions are , how much gear lube does this thing take , along with what weight? and where is the best place to fill it through? sorry if these are stupid questions but i'm a complete rookie when it comes to manual trannies.thanks.

With the trans sitting level, fill it through the plug in the side until it just starts to come out the plug hole. Gear lube in the 75w to 80w range will suffice. If it were mine I would run Royal Purple Max gear lube in it.

thanks vince ,
ok , the plug that i have is about 3" up from the bottom , on the passenger side , i'm assuming this is the one i want? i hope so because it's the only one i have. so if this is correct , then only the bottom third of the tranny has lube in it? do you think 2 quarts would cover it?

I'd get a gallon and change the rear end oil also. After you run that tranny some, check the level again.
