Muncie stuck in reverse?

Hey guys,
I bought a freshly rebuild 350sb and the guy I got it off chucked in a M20 wide ratio muncie with it,I don't need it so am going to sell it,It has shifter, linkeges etc but I guy with alot more knowledge that he had a look and said It's stuck in reverse? when you turn the shaft with your hand the other end spins in the opposite direction, were ever you shift the shifter to it doesn't seem to change. What could be causing this???

Could be a broken reverse shift fork not pulling it out of reverse engagement, could be reverse gear has seized on the main shaft, or could be just improperly re-assembled so that the fork isn't in the groove on the gear. Removal of the tailshaft housing will tell the story pretty quickly, and it could be a real simple fix.

First thing to do is un-hook the shifter and see if you can move the reverse arm by hand. It is the one on the tail housing. it might just be in the shifter.

Thanks guys ended up being the simplest thing the fork wasn't in the groove, problem solved.Tried just shifting the reverse arm it would move but would not come out of reverse.I'm glad it wasn't something more serious. Thanks for the tips.
