Muncie Transmission 451 or 452
 

How do you tell a muncie 4 sp no 451 or 452 can not see any nos,plus i believe shift linkage is wrong this is on 64 GTO. There is hurst shifter but original linkage if we put levers on side of trans up like they are suppose to be can't shift as linkage hits tunnel

#451 ('63-'68)- shift arms attach w/stud and nuts.
#452 ('69-up) shift arms attach w/bolts.

No grooves or number of grooves if present on input shaft can indicate ratios.

There were several different 4 speed Hurst shifters used depending on application.

The transmissions all have the same dimentions, it's the shifters that are different. Some think that just because it's a Hurst shifter it will work on any car.WRONG.

Don't forget your speedometer drive should be on the drivers side of the tailshaft housing for a Pontiac of this vintage
