Ah yes. Slayer. Used to listen to some of that back in high school. ( Along with Testament, Anthrax, Megadeth, Helloween, King Diamond, Dream Theater, RUSH, Iron Maiden...etc )

Maiden used to be my favorite back then. Today Symphony X has risen the bar to new levels.
I've been into metal since it was invented. Most people feel Sabbath started metal. ( It was around that era. )

Slayer had Dave Lombardo on drums. He was the key to that band.

SO... i'll see your "Slayer" and raise you a "Chuck":

PBS had Imelda w/Jeff Beck doing a tribute to Les Paul. It was a good show, all in all.

nice! I'd agree with Sabbath starting metal. King Diamond rocks.

can never go wrong with Metallica, no matter how they feel about downloading music.

King Diamond is FAR OUT, but he always had excellent musicians in his band.
Andy LaRoque did some killer guitarwork with KD back in the day.

Pantera... oh yeah. Loved "Cowboys" and "Vulgar Display" cd's.

I hate to even hear the name "Metallica" anymore because those dudes are the textbook example of how fame and fortune can ruin you.
Yeah... as much as I hate to even say it, I was all into their first 3 albums back when they came out. Great stuff for that era, but when they lost Cliff Burton in that bus accident, they started going downhill.
( Anything after "Justice for All" makes me wanna barf. )

Another of my all-time favorite bands. These guys are from Norway.
They are no longer together, but they gave us 4 albums of greatness.

After Conception, the singer ( Roy Khan ) went on to sing with KAMELOT.
Khan is amazing. Always loved his style.

The greatest power metal band to ever bless us with their amazing talent.
So sad they only made 2 albums then disbanded. These guys are LEGENDS!

Just so you know I wasn't saying that The Box Tops were from England but that the song was from that period in time. It was our feable attempt to compete and thanks to Wayne Carson Thompson for writing it. He also wrote Willie's hit song "Always on my mind"
This was one of my favorite Limey groups from that era.

I lived within bicycle distance of the local burger joint (The Hungry EYE) *barf*, and they had a jukebox that sat outside all the time (can you imagine that today?).

On it was a couple I still enjoy:

Many years later Bob Seger played the Orlando Sports Stadium numerous times. Started out backing up bands like Ted Nugent, then later became the headliner. We always raised hell to get him back on stage when he was a backup band and then would boo the headliners when they came on.

Apparently this wasn't lost on Bob; later he mentioned Orlando by name in the song "Song to Rufus" from the Mongrel album (a killer album, BTW. The song "Lucifer" might jog some people's memories).

Hi Guys,

Rockabilly music for me as well.

Interestingly Imelda May/Higham is very passionate about her Rockabilly although she rarely seems to perform it since her career took off. The lead guitarist in the band is her husband Darrel Higham and was a big name on the Rockabilly circuit himself a few years back.
