Some thought it was disingenuous of him at the time for playing blues; he was young, rich, world at his feet. Now that it's known what he was doing at the time, I have little doubt he suffered more than it may have looked. And it was a shame, too bad he brought it on himself. Overall that was a brutal 9-1/2 month span in 1970-'71.

Good stuff PJ - - - funny how a good song can span several artists even if it's a cover song. Same goes with that last Shirley Bassey tune. IMHO, Tom Jones had as good of a voice as was in the business back then, if you could look past the glitz, glamor and showboating that is.

I hadn't been following this thread, but ..... WOW! You guys have great taste in music! ...(and cars) :-)
My wife of 22 years... who I met at a dance hall... grew up in late fifties in her family's Detroit restaurant, listening to the juke box! I started listening intenetly in the late '50s Illinois, with a Transistor radio in my pocket tuned into WLS in Chicago! The radio, computer, PBS's "Our Music", or vinyl is playing '50s to '80s tunes here, around the clock. At least once a week I ask for a show of hands about whether we had the best music, and it is alway unanimous... "YES!" I will chime in once in a while with a tune. I haven't listened to the whole thread, so forgive me if I post a repeat. {:-)
