probably the best live recording I've ever heard. Jimi makes that thing sing!

Jimi Hendrix-Little Wing LIVE ( BEST VERSION ) - YouTube
I have always enjoyed Hendrix's work but really jumped up in my appreciation when listening to a live album recorded in SF. The quality of his singing blew me away, on songs where he sang words and hitting the notes perfectly on the guitar, perfect pitch right on the money. He was a talent, such a shame we lost him so early.

Thank God for the Artist, what beauty they add to this life of ours.

When I was a kid I listened to this stuff over and over, LOVE Red house. I didn't realize until years later that it was BLUES and not rock and roll. For some reason I just didn't see this. Years later I got into the blues and it hits me all the Zepplin and Hendrix songs that I loved so much were the blues!

Some thought it was disingenuous of him at the time for playing blues; he was young, rich, world at his feet. Now that it's known what he was doing at the time, I have little doubt he suffered more than it may have looked. And it was a shame, too bad he brought it on himself. Overall that was a brutal 9-1/2 month span in 1970-'71.

Good stuff PJ - - - funny how a good song can span several artists even if it's a cover song. Same goes with that last Shirley Bassey tune. IMHO, Tom Jones had as good of a voice as was in the business back then, if you could look past the glitz, glamor and showboating that is.

I hadn't been following this thread, but ..... WOW! You guys have great taste in music! ...(and cars) :-)

My wife of 22 years... who I met at a dance hall... grew up in late fifties in her family's Detroit restaurant, listening to the juke box! I started listening intenetly in the late '50s Illinois, with a Transistor radio in my pocket tuned into WLS in Chicago!

The radio, computer, PBS's "Our Music", or vinyl is playing '50s to '80s tunes here, around the clock. At least once a week I ask for a show of hands about whether we had the best music, and it is alway unanimous... "YES!"

I will chime in once in a while with a tune. I haven't listened to the whole thread, so forgive me if I post a repeat. {:-)

At the time of Hendrix´s death he had not signed any contracts,
so the recording company gets to keep all the money earned.
