[QUOTE=TucsonJay;1638166]I hadn't been following this thread, but ..... WOW! You guys have great taste in music! ...(and cars) :-)

My wife of 22 years... who I met at a dance hall... grew up in late fifties in her family's Detroit restaurant, listening to the juke box! I started listening intenetly in the late '50s Illinois, with a Transistor radio in my pocket tuned into WLS in Chicago!

Detroit in the 50's & 60's High school

Hey Jester - - lookie here !

I noticed on a KHOU link this morning that Sleepy LeBeef was gigging at the Continental Club in Houston. Hell, I didn't even think he was alive - - - hahahahaha

Here's a vid of some typical Sleepy stuff - - - the dude playing the blonde guitar with the horned rim glasses is Kenny Vaughn who now plays with Marty Stuart's band "The Fabulous Superlatives".

In his hayday this was Houston Rockabilly at it's finest.

Joe G., I had forgotten about that song and I love that Mississippi Delta finger picking guitar.

PJ, I have not heard of Jack Rabbit Slim - - - good stuff as usual.

Thanks W.R. I'm glade you enjoyed them!!

Ive been looking for a couple of albums from the 60s that had drag racing engine sounds and tires burning in the music tracks! I lost them years ago! I think one was by the Rip Cords about drag racing and another by the Ventures all instrumental and a few more I cant remember the groups? I'de like to hear them again !

A puzzle to me

My friend "Terraplane" Bob just told me about this couple today so I went to Youtube and gave them a listen. For the life of me I can't tell you why but "I LIKE THIS" - - - it's not my type of music but it's good, clean and "simple" so maybe that's the reason.

Hey Dan, that old classmate of yours sure does remind me of one of my heroes, Jerry Jeff Walker. I wish him the best of luck - - it's a very fickle industry.

Jester

When I was in Jr. high & high school I was buying every album & 45 with the sound of hot rods in the music! When I came out of the service they were gone! Ive always missed those old songs and instrumentals !!!

Good stuff but I'm LMAO at the next to the bottom pic.
I wonder if the "Cobras" had any idea of what that photo (unintentionally I'm sure) depicted?

I think Brothas and sistas are better entertainers and athletes cause they went thru tougher times than the rest of us. Love this song by George Benson
