Sorry for the twenty questions, I'm sure you didn't include an answer in the thread solely to indulge my curiosity. |

I heard country mentioned a couple times. Love Merle Haggard, David Allen Coe, John Anderson, and Hank Jr. Stuff I grew up on from my dad. If anyone else is a David Allen Coe fan, I suggest checking out Rebel Meets Rebel. It's David Allen Coe backed by Darrell and Vince Abbott of Pantera. Quite a mix of sounds, even if just for the novelty of it. |

I am also a huge fan of Fu Manchu if you are a gearhead (most of you are), a fan of early 70's hard rock like Mountain, Sabbath and Zepplain, and a fan of some punk and some surf Fu Manchu is the band for you!
Every other song they have is about cars |

I go with
country but am picky, don't like my dads country guess you'd call that bluegrass.. metal.. all.. but mostly bands that have a singer not a screamer that sounds like a guy with marbles in his mouth and a bad headcold.. r'n'r, most anything.. not so much into the 50-60's cooner rock.. thats a snooze.. rap.. back when it was fun.. and it all didn't sound the same.. dance- not to be confused with disco(70's) or late 90's on hip hop. trance- enigma/etc bluesy rock.. not into the older blues, but thats mostly because the recording quality on most sucks.. tecno again like rap.. I'm picky s way to much of it sounds the same.. big band music.. country rock/southern rock from the late 70-80's skinard/38 special/molly hatchet/etc hair/glam metal.. the last party rock before the downer grunge became the in thing.. music should be a pick-me-up.. not a downer.. guitar based music that has players that can play.. some of todays bands guitarist make ACDC's young brothers look like guitar gods.. guitar music, with no vocals.. parodies.. and gasp some disco.. and when I'm in a bad mood, nothings better than a block of metalica/megadeth/pantara/maiden/priest, to let go.. and put a smile on your face... |

MXrider, if you like surf'n music you might give the Beach Boys another chance because they introduced and innovated a sound that was brand new and much needed at the time. Their harmonies were the first of its kind to storm the charts. HOWEVER, once the "Bubble-gummers" started freaking out over them then most serious Rockers kinda backed away and that's very sad indeed. Lik'em or not they were "true" pioneers in their field.

I listen to everything, and like a little of everything but always go back to rockabilly, Psycobilly, and horrorbilly, Hillbilly!! Like Reverand Horten Heat, the meteors, Elvis, Golden Ear Ring, Aces wild, Etc Etc! LOL
You can cut em down and bash em all you want But I like that music Especially the underground music that stations refuse to play!! Im always into listening to new music and Ill listen to what ever anyone posts who knows I may find something I like better!!Jester Last edited by painted jester; 10-13-2012 at 03:51 PM. |

Thanks P.J. I'm liking everyone of those
- - - that's my kind of instrumentation - - - - I grew up on that kind of Rockabilly.![]() Here's one you might like also by the late great Danny Gatton who I thought was as good of a Rockabilly/Rock/Outer Space guitarist I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. That's Delbert McClinton on vocals BTW. |

I am country first above all else. Conway Twitty, Alan Jackson, to name a few. But rock during the 70's and 8o's always gets my attention. It was a great era. The Boss, Meatloaf, Hollies, Bonnie Tyler.etc...The list is endless. It's just ashame music has moved on to what it has become now. Maybe I'm just feeling my age.

Harold Jenkins (aka Conway Twitty) was a musical genius and he knew exactly what songs would sell - - - - what a loss !
Here's my last one for the night showing what it is to "really OWN" your axe as Danny did ! Watch it all and be amazed ! |
