I respect them I like songs like 409 and little Deuce Coupe but I prefer the guitar sound over the heavy vocals. I do like a few Jan and Dean songs as well.

the Belairs and Dick Dail other groups started surf music and the Beach boys joined later when their songs contained cars because face it in the early 60 more kids were into cars then surf boards!! the problem was that most groups didn't get much play time because of payola and poor promotions. When songs like 409, little old lady from Pasadena,Etc hit the country ate it up!

Understood and I agree with the guitar sound being more surf sound. How could we have forgotten this group and their many chart topping twangy sufin' tunes?

P.J. I can't get over the Chuck Berry influence that keeps raising it's head in that Jaguar version - - - - a real good mix of what was Hot back then - - - thanks for sharing that one.

Probably, after all, I would think that Wilson and Company had to have their "inspiration" from some place and imitation is the finest form of flattery isn't it?

I'm gonna try and find a CD of the Jaguars to carry in my '56 Jimmy and if I get a speeding ticket (not likely with the stock rearend) I'm gonna blame it on you. LOL

I like his solo stuff more than Strapping Young Lad, but I think everything he does is pretty awesome. I listened to a bit of power metal for a while like Jag Panzer, Blind Guardian, etc but I'm such a die-hard Maiden fan that I just keep going back to them to feel what that genre has to offer.

Sorry for the twenty questions, I'm sure you didn't include an answer in the thread solely to indulge my curiosity.
If you're a Barlow fan; he's on Facebook, and he's always posting side projects hes working with.

Rebel Meets Rebel was SOO good; even my dad liked it; although he took me to my first Ozzfest so I lucked out. I still miss Dime. Incidentally one of my best friends in High School is the Guitar Tech for HellYeah (another awesome band)

Ive always liked the twin lead guitar thing; Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest (although I like Halfords other bands better in terms of their heaviness)

Lately Ive really been digging these female heavy metal singers: Otep, Lizzy Hale from Halestorm, and Maria Brink from In This Moment. Otep Shamaya's poems and her paintings are...interesting, very early Rob Zombie; and her viewpoints on politics and other uhh social ills are refreshing in the music scene. Someone post some metal...I can't from work and this surf rock thing is driving me nuts LOL
