I was just pulling your leg on the baby bro thingie

However, I did find it on Youtube and got to listen to it. Very very nice, I might add. Love a good smooth cornet with that controlled vibrato. He's a pleasure to listen to. Kinda wish I had my sweetie armed up on the dance floor there. Here's the Video if anyone needs it.

I hear the names... or see the faces... or hear song titles, of many of today's artists. Then I say "Who?" or "What?"

I only listen to the oldies radio and Sirius Satellite channels that feature '50s to '70s, or MAYBE '80s music. I have no interest in current artists at all.

...but it works both ways! I'm sure many younger folks would have no clue about my music either! {:-)

Today couldn't go buy without a posting here of one of the greatest pieces of American Pop history ever who passed away today. My heart is heavy with this news. The great, GREAT Richie Havens. I was walking thru the Half Moon Bay Pumpkin festival about 1990. A small get together in the beautiful town of Half Moon bay on the ocean about 50 miles south of the Golden Gate. My then girl friend (now wife) were enjoying ourself walking among the booths of crafts and wonderful food when I spotted a sign with the list of performers that would play that day. Among them was Richie Havens, I couldn't believe my eyes and said out loud "That can't be THE Richie Havens". Oh but it was, I sat down in the sun 20 feet from the stage with a crowd of about 100 and heard this legend of American music perform. He had so much passion he BEAT on that guitar like nothing I had ever seen before. He was the very meaning of the word Groovy. I got his autograph and chatting a little, he was so damn cool. I have forever regarded it as one of my greatest treasures. That event has been in the for front of my mind along with few others as a Martin Family treasure that we didn't ask for, it was just handed to us. RIP Richie, RIP.

Brian

OK so it's a Tribute Band

Two of these members were on the local news promoting their stuff and even tho it was just the blonde vocalist and one acoustic guitar player they got my attention. Here is a medley of some of their stuff, the audio isn't good at all but I'm sure the Fleetwood Fans can dig it - ?maybe?

I dig it! I like the tribute bands, I remember years ago not liking the idea, but then I went and saw a very good local Elvis show, they were GREAT. They had a few different Elvis impersonators all doing the different eras including a young man 17 years old that did Sun Studios, they were great! So the wife and I went to a number of these shows, and they added others like Buddy Holly and Roy Orbinson (that is really pushing it to try and do Roy, but it wasn't bad). Since then we have seen a number of different acts over the years including a Neil Diamond that was very good.

But these guys here, they take the cake. They don't try to look like the real thing, they even have five and six musicians on stage outside of a few in the horn section. And they are TOP KNOTCH.

I went and saw them on a fluke I was in a part of town I don't usually eat in and there was a poster for a near by coffee shop who plays to large bands and sells tickets where they were going to play a few hours away from when I saw this poster. I called a friend who is a serious Beatles fan (large tattoo down his arm YEARS ago) and said "I am coming to pick you up with a surprise and took him. He is a serious fan listening to Beatles albums most every day! And he loved them, was very impressed. I felt like it was a fictional BBC show I was at in 1977 where they got together. I mentioned this to the leaders girlfriend in the audience and her eyes lit up and said THAT is exactly what Drew (the leader of the band and the guy who sings all the Lennon stuff) says he is doing! LOL, It was an acoustic show and it REALLY was great. I later saw them at the city park in the summer at a concert series they have out there with the full band and they were spectacular.

Brian
