you betcha - - - these kids grew up in and around SRV country and it's obvious that they were fans of his - - - and IMHO they really lay it down for a 3 piece

this dude also lays it down but in a different way - - - most of his talent is in his right hand but it's sure nice listening anyhow

One of the best instrumental guitar pieces ever by John Butler. [VIDEO]

BTW, I agree with you on the 4 strings are sufficient but my youngest son disagrees with both of us He's got one of those ironing boards also.

Tell him if four's not enough, he should get a guitar instead.

I'm a big fan of John Butler already. There seems to have been an increase in players using similar techniques of finger tapping & other methods including using the body of the guitar as a percussion instrument.

Check out Justin King & his instrumental tune 'Phunkdified'

Or...

Preston Reed & his 'Slap Funk'

Or..

The very young & very talented Kaki King - 'Playing With Pink Noise'

Ofcourse, not forgetting one of the original exponents of the tapping style, Stanley Jordan. Here's his version of Zep's classic 'Stairway To Heaven'.

And also, Aussie Tommy Emmanuel & his 'Mombasa'.

Well, you have managed to cause me to lose track of time and kill (enjoyably I might add) an hour, oh well, I get it back tonight.

The best thing about these tap players is that they are causing 1000s of drummers to either marry their GF or get a real job.

I'm outa here before I step on some toes.

So good to hear a young voice just sing the song and let the greatness of that song speak for itself. This little lady showcased both and didn't clutter it up with runs and octave jumping but when it came time to put her "tag" on it she nailed it. Sure hope she goes a long ways 'cause I will buy her CD for sure.

Jefferson Airplane drummer Joey Covington killed after his car crashes head on into a wall

"Jefferson Airplane's Joey Covington has been killed in a car crash in California.
The 67-year-old, who was the drummer of one of the most popular rock bands during the psychedelic 1960s era, died instantly after his Honda Civic car careered into a wall in Palm Springs."

Well don't that suck...

Saw the Jefferson Airplane in Orlando, ca. 1970. The Sports Stadium was a total dump- I mean, dressing rooms that stunk to high hell, no security to speak of, just a total **** hole. So Her Nibs decided to boycott the show unless her demands were met (no idea of what these were...), and if it hadn't have been for the drummer (I actually don't know if it was still Spencer Dryden or if Joey Covington had taken over, but I suspect it was Covington because the show was late summer) doing a much-too-long drum solo, we'd have sat there w/o entertainment for ages. Finally the rest of the band appeared and the show went on. Was actually not a bad show despite the rocky start.

Side note: There was a canvas tarp suspended above the crowd, just in front of the stage. It was obviously full of something- but we knew not what. Rumors had it full of everything from acid to thousands of gallons of water. It ended up being a couple thousand (or so it seemed) balsa gliders. I don't know who got the job of assembling them all!

Rush is my favorite...

I love most classic rock as well. ZZ Top, Peter Frampton, Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, and so on.

Heres a story all you music lovers might like. I've included two videos. All I can say is that a certain Airline is currently pooping little boulders. Enjoy

BB

A musician named Dave Carroll recently had difficulty with United Airlines.
Dave spent over 9 months trying to get United to pay for damages caused by
by baggage handlers to his custom Taylor Guitar. During his final exchange with
the United Customer Relations Manager, he stated that he was left with no
choice other than to create a music video for YouTube exposing their lack of
cooperation. The Manager responded: "Good luck with that one, pal."

So he posted a retaliatory video on YouTube. The video has since received
over 6 million hits. United Airlines contacted the musician and attempted
settlement in exchange for pulling the video. Naturally his response was:
"Good luck with that one, pal."

Taylor Guitars sent the musician 2 new custom guitars in appreciation for
the product recognition from the video that has led to a sharp increase in
orders.

Here's the video:

Lost a Legend last Sunday

Rest In Peace Bobby "Blue" Bland.
What an innovator in the R&B field back in the early 60's.
