Any 60's or early 70's Motown or soul music - before they all turned into cabaret acts , Jazz/funk - Herbie Hanc0ck , Ronnie Laws,Donald Byrd , Eddie Harris , Ohio Players etc, 80's electro - Softcell , Cabaret Voltaire, Kraftwerk ,Human League etc, more recently - The Orb , Radiohead , Cafe del Mar type stuff , trance electro .
One of my all time favourite albums is Headhunters by Herbie Hanc0ck , still sounds as fresh today as it did when I first bought it almost 30 yrs ago . LOL had to edit the o's into 0's to clear the censor

Being I`m 29, I`ll say this. I grew up in the country, pretty much isolated, my father only listens to country, he thought I would do the same, but my older brother, who`s 10 years older than I am, was into rock and roll, especially Kiss. he and I were very close, so I followed his lead, and I got into Kiss when i was around 5, he had a small income around 15 years of age, and would spend it on LP`s, I remember when he brought home the first Van Halen LP, and it blew me completely away, never heard anything like that, he got me into other groups as well, Queen, Boston, Kansas, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, Lynyrd Skynyrd just to name a few. the 80`s had a big impact on me, since I grew up in the 80`s, and I still have all the 80`s music and classic rock stuff. the last band in my opinion that was any good was Nirvana. music today, like britney spears, shania twain, isn`t something I can see myself getting into, since they didn`t write there own material, and they didn`t play a instrument on it goes to show when you got looks and a body you can sell 15 million albums and it don`t require any talent what so ever to do it. sad.

So here's a few names Nat .... .... Hank ........ Bob ..... Big Joe ...... Django ......... Charlie ........ Mac ...... Ernie .... Bobby ...... Johnny ........ If you can fill in any more than 5 surnames you're as sad an old git as I am. Hellz |

I like those groups that "Hippie" posted...it must be a generations thing?
I also like country-western, the old-school stuff, and Bluegrass. My sons have force-fed me "Hip-Hop" and "Rap"...after I got over the shock of the language, I found that some of them tell some sad stories like old country music. I got used to it...being a dad, if I say i hate something, they'll just play more of it. I also have an older nephew that started rattling the plaster when he moved in listening to "Metallica" and newer "Metal". Got usd to that too. I listen to Native stuff like Pow-Wow music...its sweet revenge! Joseph |

i've said it before and i will say it again - if you want to listen to good music no matter what mood you are in...
Led Zeppelin. period. I am 19, i never got to see them, and i grew up listening to their cds every dam day of my life. the thing that gets me about it is, unlike other groups where i get tired of a song if i listen to it too many times i get bored with it - Zeppelin is fresh everytime i play it. rock on. 68 |
