I wouldn't skimp on a Mustang II setup. At least not on the crossmember and top hat kit. Heidts has always been my choice since their geometry exactly matches Fords design. That can't be said for some of the other Mustang II IFS manufacturers. The control arms, spindles, and struts can all be found at swap meets if you need to save money.

Go to the link below my name and click on the past projects (41 Chevy and 53 Pickup) on the left side of the page. Each one of them had a Heidts Mustang II IFS installed with pictures and narrative. The 41 Chevy coupe has the same frame as your 47 but the detail and explanations given with the 53 Pickup are in much more detail and should explain things a lot better.

Good luck.

Hey I checked out your page, the 41 looks great! Im doing a 48 and have a question: Did you use 2'' drop spindles or just standard ones in your car??? Thanks.

Chassis Engineering has a bolt-on crossmember and top hats if you don't know or have someone to do welding (you can also adjust the ride height). Total Cost Involved has a combination bolt-on/weld-on kit. I'm building a '46 Coupe but am keeping the original suspension for now. Not enough money for a MII...

Ok thanks, what is better for strength? Tubular or stamped control arms? I want the Heidts and for my 48 I was just going to use the econo front end. Any suggestions?

You can see my in-progress installation of a TCI MII front end on my 41.
