Mustang II MBM 2" Drop Spindles

I have a set of MBM Mustang II 2" drop spindles attached to screw in type tubular A arms top and bottom. The problem I'm having is with the ball joint's dust boots. The bottom dust boot is completely collapsed and the top is not quite as bad. I also noticed that washers are used under the locking nut as spacers. Could I have the wrong ball joints for these spindles, if anyone have experience anything similar I would appreciate any help.

Either the wrong ball joints or the taper in the spindles is cut too deep. I would go for wrong ball joints. As ball joints are available with several different size tapered studs.

The screw in ball joints are Chrysler and they are longer above the taper than a MII spindle. All of them I installed need the washer to take up the space between the nut and spindle.
