mustang II streering rack help needed

OK, Im installing my mustang II front end and Im down to the steering rack. Which way do the bushings go? One end of the bushing has a ridge and I assume that it goes toward the front. the other end actually sticks out past the rack mounts about 1/2 of an inch. If that end goes against the crossmember, do I torque it untill the rubber crushes or what? Looks like it would crush about 3/8 of an inch to the inner sleeve of the bushing.

Hope u can figure out what the heck Im trying to describe. THANKS

The rim of the hat goes toward the crossmember. The bolt and washer will flatten the excess part of bushing.

Thanks Mooshaker, so if i understand right , the bushing is "T" shaped and the top of the "T" (flat end of the bushing) goes against the crossmember.

You are correct. The other end flattens out as you tighten the bolt.
