mustang rear end
would like to up grade to 5 lug wheels on a 66 mustang rear end.does anyone know if ford ranger axles would work.if so what years would fit

Some of these 6 cylinder Mustangs had the tried and true 8" rear end even with the 4 lug axles. If so, remove the old axles and brakes and install a donor version from a V8 or possibly any Maverick/Comet. Then some Mustangs had that dinky remove the back cover 'C' clip unit. BUT - it would be much, much easier to find a complete 8" rear end and bolt in place then to fool with Ranger axles which most likely are too wide and probably will not work.

For 5 lugs, you will need custom axles.
Try Dutchman or Moser.
You might find a small bearing cut-to-fit axle so measure your existing axles and check with Randys.

If you have a 8" diff you might check randy's.They have a cut to fit axle for those.
