mustang trans into an F150

Ok i have just a simple question for the tranny pro's on here.
I gave my son my old 84 F150 300(4.9) 6 cyl AOD auto when the tranny finaly went out after over 300k on the odometer.I had recently done the whole top end and new gaskets and oil pump on it so the engine is really in great shape.
I have an 85 GT mustang 5.0 AOD ragtop that a deer totaled out ,the drivetrain is still in excellent condition and told him to just take that tranny out and put in the truck.
My question is,is the torque converters different as in the stall?..if so..would it really matter using the mustang converter in the truck since i wouldnt use the one in the truck in fear of it being messed up and also having metal shavings from the bad tranny.
I know the gearing will most likely be a little different in the 2 but he will only be using it mostly for hauling light stuff or just goin to jobsites for work.
