Could you still use the 5.0 converter? I'll bet this has been done by mistake many times in transmission shops.

I say yes you could do it, and again, some difference in stall speed but, not enough to make a real difference, in my opinion.
Yes..were planning on using the 5.0 converter with the 5.0 AOD into the truck,if thats the case,the old truck has highway gears in it and if anything the higher stall in 5.0 would make it haul a little better out of the hole.Thanks..John
