I made a few of the old Monogram & AMT kits over 30 years ago, so I know what you mean.

I'd love to get my hands on another Monogram black'n'flamed '66 Chevelle Malibu with the rat motor...I have one boxed, but it's the later 'street' standard red one.

!0m years or so ago, I got back into building a bunch of models of cars I had owned...Did a bunch and then got away from it again.

I get bored with things when I can't work on them any more. I did the same thing with 1:1 scale cars. Build them.... lose interest... then start another project. That is why I work on other people's rods and customs now... instead of my own.

I built the models because I liked the creativity ....but then when work slowed down, and I started getting hungry, I would cash them out. :-) No regrets.

Poncho 62, That is very cool, to build replicas of your own stuff! Maybe it would ease the pain of selling the big ones. :-)

When I was racing slots ca. 1990, I worked part time at a Hobby Box. Used to spend my pay on models and slotcar parts. Main reason I took a job there was so I could go in and practice on our slot track when I wanted, be it 2am or whenever. The guy who owned it had models stashed away from years ago that he'd let go every so often.

I think I still have the black Chevelle in the box but it and dozens more are still in storage at the FL shop. If I ever get around to hauling them up here, I'll PM you and maybe we can do a trade or something.

Last batch...

The twin engine Top Gas car was my first after 30 years away from the hobby.

The "T-Rex" was inspired by the "Texas Ranger" Altered.

The Turbine dragster was insired by an Arfons car.

The last two pictures are of a group diorama project, done with five other modelers from Tennessee... California... Colorado... and Arizona. It was great fun, and was featured in Model Cars magazine!

We started a "Joint Venture II"... but the guy who organized it, Tom Counce, died from cancer, so we abandoned the effort.
