I got back into the hobby about 10-12 years ago... but eventually burned myself out. I was putting on an annual event... building mold masters... and chasing trophies. Finally won enough to satisfy me, and decided to get back to my 1:1 work. It sure was fun, and made some great friends, and great memories!
Ya I hear ya I wrecked my back so can't work on my 1:1 Machines hardly any more. But I can still push the pedal down :mwink: Oh I am in So Cal area around Redlands ca
Hey Job If you ever see this car over in the UK it is one I owned for awhile and had to sell due to financial needs. It was an awesome car and I still regret selling it all the decals were hand painted. Let me know if you ever see it I would like to try and buy it back. thanks a bunch Jp
I made a few of the old Monogram & AMT kits over 30 years ago, so I know what you mean.
I'd love to get my hands on another Monogram black'n'flamed '66 Chevelle Malibu with the rat motor...I have one boxed, but it's the later 'street' standard red one.
I get bored with things when I can't work on them any more. I did the same thing with 1:1 scale cars. Build them.... lose interest... then start another project. That is why I work on other people's rods and customs now... instead of my own.
I built the models because I liked the creativity ....but then when work slowed down, and I started getting hungry, I would cash them out. No regrets.

When I was racing slots ca. 1990, I worked part time at a Hobby Box. Used to spend my pay on models and slotcar parts. Main reason I took a job there was so I could go in and practice on our slot track when I wanted, be it 2am or whenever. The guy who owned it had models stashed away from years ago that he'd let go every so often.
I think I still have the black Chevelle in the box but it and dozens more are still in storage at the FL shop. If I ever get around to hauling them up here, I'll PM you and maybe we can do a trade or something.
