Circa 1976. Orange County Dragway. '61 Falcon coupe ("Humpin' Henry"). 300 six, Clifford manifold/header (custom), Roush "Cleveland" head (351C heads carved up and welded back together for a 6). 10.60s over 125.

That six has had more "goodies" made for it and won more races than any other straight-6 I know of. Remarkable performance potential, surpassing the Chevy and Dodge offerings of the era.

Don't discount Clifford Per4fromance. While much of their stuff is "dated", it still WORKS!

Cool idea, the 6.

using a 240 piston on a 300 crank with a 6.209 rod and a flat top gives it 7.5-1..depending on cc of head, i have not had them cc yet, but they do have 1.94 or 2.02 intake valves, g-pa ported the head years ago, i just bought some 351w pistons with a 5 cc dome, that will put it between 11.5--12 to 1

I read an article back in the 70s about cutting up a set of cleveland heads and furnace brazing them back together.I would hope by now someone just made new castings from Al. I doubt enough racers would buy the heads though, probably not worth it with all the better technology available now. BMW still uses an inline 6.
what ever happened to the GM over head cam 6 offered 10 years ago?

Update--10-26-2012...redone the motor, discovered it had wrong pistons in it, .230 in the hole.. so i put early model rods in it with some trw dome 351w pistons for 11.5-1 compression..new roller rockers..new steel timing set..degreed the cam.and cheked dur @ .050.is 240 degree and .595 lift with the 1.7 rockers...proform 650 carb..same deal as last time, i had my hand on shifter and did not go 2 feet and hit 2nd gear..then when about 100 ft and went to 3rd..ran 13.33@94 mph 1/4 mile...and 8.30 1/8 mile.--1.87 60ft...went threw lights at 6200 rpm..next pass radiator started leaking and i put it on the trailer ..it will run low 12s once i learn not to touch the shifter ..lol..
