my 57 chevy's donor truck

I am picking up a 1980 chevy truck which has a 350 v8 and trans I need for my project. I was wondering if I could use the brakes from the donor? I'm sure they are in better shape than my 57s.

I know I can/will check and compare any possible way to change them without much fabrication ,but thought I would ask to see if anyone has tried anything like it.

Even if you could, you would need special brackets etc to mount the later brakes to the earlier "I" beam axle.....There may be something available. .Take some measurements and see if the whole clip off the 80 will fit the 57 frame. I know a Camaro/Nova/ "G" body clip is a close fit on those

I thought about getting the direct fit disc brake upgrade from LMC. I know this truck won't be driven hard but would still like to increase my stopping power.

Speedway sells a kit for around $250 to fit these. It changes the bolt pattern to 5 x 4.75 . It uses 2nd gen F body rotors and brakes AFAIK.
