What engine does it have in it and how many miles is on it ? thinking it might be a timing issue (jumped time). But need more info on the car. JMO

Does it turn over, how about the head lights are the dim as if the battery could be real low, to get help try to answer the questions. It could be fuel related, you scanned it so I will assume you have electrical power, how old it the battery, cables in good shape? These are some things to investigate.

Just how good does it turn over ? Are you sure it has plenty of gas in it ?
just saying you never know. that 2.2 you should be able to remove the top part of the timing cover and have a look at the belt JMO and have someone bump it over as you look to see if it has any teeth missing (stripped teeth).
You said the pump is coming on right ? all else that i know of to be related to the pump if it's coming on is do a fuel pressure test to see just how much it's putting out. IMHO there is another way but i will wait and see if someone else says it first Alot of times when it's the pump the car will just stop like yours did and then sometimes it will start back up every now and then before going all the way out.

If it was a timing problem I'd think it would be trying to run but rough, or back fire through the exhaust, cause an exhaust valve was open at the wrong time, or locking up because an intake was open and the piston jammed into it, not saying it could not be the problem, just saying timing failures produce some sever problems when it lets go.

Pull a plug see if you see spark jumping find out if it has the juice to light the fuel, remember to ground the plug to the block you need a complete circuit.

If that is good I'd start to look at the fuel side . It has been said that if you constantly run low fuel 1/4 tank that it could cause a fuel pump to fail cause the fuel actually cools the pump. The old couple of bucks in the take to get you up and down the road routine.

What are you saying here ?

Does the engine crank over?Does it crank and not start? If it cranks and wont start then you need to go to the next paragraph. If it wont crank then you need to diagnose the battery/starter issue.
You wont figure out the issue with a scanner. You need to verify spark, fuel pressure, and injector pulse first.
I get customers all the time that say there car wont start, when I ask if it cranks or doesnt crank...they have to think about it. WTF?
Ignore the monitors, they dont start running untill the engine does.
No code driveability means you start back at engine basics. Dont look so hard that you fake yourself out.
Also assuming you have fuel pressure because you hear(or think you hear) the fuel pump running is wasting peoples time.Be sure, put the gauge on and stop the guessing. Not trying to flip out on you here, just trying to promote good diagnostic results so you can get your ride rollin. LA Tech

An engine that suddenly dies while going down the road (assuming that the vehicle is in great condition) likely can be traced back to a bad fuel pump or alternator. Had the same thing on my Elantra, and it was the alternator. My neighbor experienced the same issue in her Cavalier, and I ended up replacing the fuel pump.

Obviously it's a virtual impossibility to diagnose something on a forum. But at least you can be steered in the right direction.

I think 36 with the engine running, 42 with the engine off and the pump priming the system(2 second pulse for priming), cycle the key a few times to make sure the pump bleeds the system (or does not)
You probably wont find a fuel pressure test port, you may have to hook a "T" into the line at the fuel filter to get a hookup for reading it.

You could spray a little fuel in the throttle body to see if it starts if you dont have access to a fuel pressure gauge. It will at least prove if it is a fuel problem if it runs for a few seconds. Did you check to see if it has spark?
