My ancient homemade compressor

I mentioned this in my "what type of compressor do you have?" thread, and a few others too, and I finally have pixs of it, and the garage, and my garage ornaments. Enjoy looking in my photo album!

Any help on finding what company the compressor pump came from would be appreciated! It looks super-heavy duty.

nobody knows who made the compressor?

nobody knows the age of the tank and/or motor?

I thought we were smarter than that!

Sooooo if i went and bought a compressor pump at HarborFreight http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=91982 then hooked it up to a good size motor and my tank, It would work?
Im suprised Ive never thought of that (BIG DUHHHH to me.) ....im always thinking of ways to rig stuff seriously dunno how i didnt think of that. safetywise, i would have to pipe in a pressure shutoff switch and it would be set? and probably an oil/water catcher i imagine that thing will be puttin out some oil in the lines?

15 @ 90 PSI is the min I would want for "hot rodding". The pump you linked is 13.4 CFM @ 90 PSI.

it's a 3-stall for the front, which was added back in the 70s. The back part (original garage) is 2-stall.

My dad's saturn vue (its damn quick, no musclecar eater but v6camaro watch out!) and my mom's ion occupy the 2 stalls that's not full of (mostly) my junk when they're home.

When you said 'ancient' I thought I would see another compressor like mine. My dad build it in the 30's when he worked at US Air Compressor during his summer vacation.
The tank is made of rolled 3/8 plate, it will never fail!
I keep it around only because be made it. About all it's good for is filling tires and the grand kids swimming pools.

Here's ours
V-4cyl with 3hp motor
It is hooked to a 100 gallon tank.
Its the quietest compresor i have ever used. You cant hear it from outside the garage and can talk normally when standing next to it.

LS6, that thing looks like it came from a submarine! Extremely heavy duty. I gave a compressor away last summer, powered a service station in the 40s and 50s, weighed about 800 lbs, steel wheels, 100 gallon tank, about 5 feet long. Should have taken a pic. Dan
