My crazy 305 questions

91 5.0 305 caprice classic. I am trying to gain hp and mpg out of my stock lo3 as I have been told by a lot of people on here my lo3 heads SUCK for hp.

I get around 20-21 mpg in my heavy caprice right now. Mods accel super stock spark plug wires, bosch platinum 2 plugs, air intake mod, and headers.

I am thinking of having my heads port and polished. Will this hurt my mpg or gain mpg and hp?

Take two aspirin and lay down on the couch with a cold, wet towel on your forehead until you regain your senses.

you are doing well, about as well as can be expected. If you want to try a few things like preheating the fuel,be careful not to create a fire hazard. The porting might help slightly but also might make it worse. The idea is to run as lean as possible, maximize timing, minimize throttle imput, lean out accelerator system, maximize aero dynamics and minimize rolling resistance.less brake drag, best possible alignment specs, lighten car, tighten torque converter, tune drive line angles and so on,,,,

Yes their are still some think I have to do from the list of ultimate tbi mods.

I haven't done the tbi spacer yet, (not expecting much) tbi ridge removal, open air cleaner, and I also want to do electric fans to reduce motor resistance.

I am not expecting much im hoping with all the mods 1-2 more mpg and 10-15 hp at best.

I haven't done any timing still 0 no suspension upgrades.

Skinny low resistance tires... hate the look but it does help the mileage..

20 mpg is a respectable number from any b-body car. Low rolling resistance tires, any aerodynamic improvements and (most importantly) driving habits are going to be the biggest number improvers. I think I'd be happy with 20 mpg, though. AFA power is concerned, it's probably not worth spending more than it takes to get a steeper set of gears and a free-flowing exhaust with a 305 tbi. Even then I personally couldn't justify the cost - and the gears would more than likely adversely effect mileage.

I know it cant just be that easy to put a 4-71 blower and get the carb tbi adapter extend the fuel lines and have a blown 305tbi. I did find 1 blown tbi but it has the new holley 4 barrel tbi and its built to the gills.
