my drag/landspeed racing progress log ( 89 twin turbo camaro )

since i just buttoned up my twin turbo iroc i figured id log my progress with it this year for u guys

my goals for the year are

#1 1/4 mile run 9.50's or better
#2 salt flats join the 150 and 200 mph club

depending on money the 200 mph club may have to wait till next year as the fire supression system, land speed tires , and other saftey equipment i need to make the car legal for a 200mph pass is not exactly cheap

for those of u who have not been following my build thread the car is setup as follows

engine

0010 block .030 over
factory forged crank
handpicked reman rods/arp bolts
speed pro .120 popup domed pistons
summit 224/224 cam
ported 882 heads
ported tpi intake
120# injectors
3 vette zr-1 fuel pumps
single fogger nitrous system 35/50/75/100 shot

turbo system
homeade twin turbo headers
pair of gt3076 turbos ( upgrading to a pair of gt3582's )
pair of 38mm wastegates
single 34x12x4 air to air intercooler

megasquirt 1/2 running ms extra with launch control/traction control and nitrous control

driveline
4l80 with full manual vb ( currently out for a rebuild )
9 inch rear

suspension
lcarbs
boxed stock lca's
lakewood drag shocks
front suspension is stock for now

still need to install 10pt cage and frame connectors ( hopefully in the next week or so as both are sitting in my storage unit )

anyways that covers most of the car and the build.

heres a video the other day of when i downgraded the megasquirt to an ms1 from ms2 thinking my ms2 cpu was bad turns out the injectors i have just wouldnt run with the settings for low-z injectors in the megamanual

and here it is the follwing day with the base tune cleaned up just enough to drive it home

anyways theres my car , theres my goals , hopefully ill reach my goals this year, feel free to comment, laugh , tell me im crazy lmao whatever ,

a lil butchered is an understatement

btw see the big line hooked to the front of the carb under the fuel inlet in the picture above , po had it hooked to the return line thing would suck fuel up the return line into the carb

this is what the previous owner left under the hood ( all the original hacked efi harness )

the centerlines are staying , the tires on the rears were shot so i put those chrome rims on it for now , picked up all 4 rims and 4 new tires for 200 bucks

going to throw the new tires on the centerlines but im going to dismount the old tires and give the centerlines a proper polish job while they dont have tires on them. i did a quick polish job on 2 of them last year and they look so much better cleaned up

heres 2 pics of the fast polish job i did last yyear

thanks to a board member on my local car forums i picked this up today for 75$'s

champion 3 core radiator and fan

its 18.5 tall , 27 wide , and 2.5 or 3 inch thick , it was originally out of his nova but the size was close enough i figured it would work in the iroc and i was right , witht he exception of having to bend the trans cooler lines just a tad to make it fit and also trim the upper radiator hose about 2 inches

btw the champion units made for our cars ar 18.5, x 30 x 2.5 so this one was only 1.5 inch narrower

i got it installed tonight and with only a single stock fan it droped 40* out of my coolant temps , need to get a mounting kit for the fan i got with it
