VooDoo's are a Hyd. flat tappet? If so, use Shell Rotella oil.

This T/A should move out.
Since December of 2007 there has been a new diesel oil standard, API CJ-4. You may still find the old standard (API CI -4) in some stores. The CJ-4 oil has reduced ZDDP and is really not recommended for flat tappet engines as the CI-4 was, with its over 0.010 Zinc and Phosphorus.

I would not use the CJ-4 oil in a flat tappet cam engine. Search the oil manufacturers web sites and look at their spec/product information sheets. Flat tappet cams, I believe, require at least 0.10 Zinc and Phosphorus to insure long cam lobe life, especially for new cam break in. ZDDP is what GM EOS, for break in, is all about.

I have used Valvoline VR1 oil since I built my 383, 3 years ago, running a CC XE274 without any problems.

Use any oil you like that you can find, with the required ZDDP, but the new CJ-4 Rotella ain't it.

Also, don't listen to the guys at the drive in. Go to the manufacturers web site for the ZDDP info. I have seen a lot of BS pasted on and posted. Do your own research.
