wckd_1,

Measure your 350 and then measure the Vett transmission. The difference should be near 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch difference and if it is you can use your old driveshaft, IF the splines are the same count on the output shafts. If not you will need the slide yoke that will fit the Vett trans.

As for the rear engine/transmission mount crossmember, you can use your old one but re-drill the mounting holes where it attaches to the frame. That is what I did on my 76 GMC Sprint when I changed it over to the 700r4. As for the difference between the way the transmissions mount to the crossmember this is what I would do. I would use a short piece of angle iron bolted to the trans solid, then use a normal rear transmission mount. By grinding the angle iron you can make it fit the shape of the tailshaft like a glove. And since you are going to move the crossmember anyway this would be an easy fabrication job.

Good Luck
Scholman

If you have a vette tranny , you can not use the vette tail housing for mounting. You need to find a tail housing with mounting holes on it.

the photo shows a vette trans & output shaft with the style of tail housing I am talking about. The vette tranny case does not have a mounting pad area on it for a mount to bolt on.

You will also need to move the speed-O plastic gear ( if you use that) forward to the front hole for the speed-O gear clip pin.
