My First Insert

I've got a Ford ranger that I put some fox body mustang seats in last year and they are kinda boring. Since Im new to upholstery I've been just looking for something, anything to sew! So tonight I took one of the seats out of the Ranger and decided to put an insert in it.

Nevermind the yellow looking stripe. I didnt have anything to mark where to put the pleat stitch on black vinyl so I used some yellow painters tape to use as my guide.Obviously I accidently stitched some of the tape and I've got to finish removing the tape. And I also still have to install the hog rings so that its tightly installed but here is what I have so far and I am proud of how it turned out. Now just to finish this seat and do the passenger seat.

Here it is complete (minus removing the rest of that yellow tape) It could use some steam probably.

Looks pretty good. You can only watch everyone else for so long. Gotta get in there and try it, only way to learn.

Thanks Ol Skool

A friend gave me a set of 70's model camaro seats last night. They will be my next project. They will require the full treatment though. They are in pretty rough shape.

I am new to upholstery also. I wish I had more time to work on learning the trade. If you have access to the Sid Chavers video on seats, he rebuilds a bucket seat. Takes off old foam, plywood base, cuts new foam in different shape. Good ideas for updating old seats.
