my first race :-P (dont worry, its not really street racing)

Well.....tonight I raced my first 'street race'.
But this one was just for fun....coming home from going clothes shopping with the fam., i was driving the minivan....pulled off the highway and up at the top of the ramp is a stop light.....2 lanes......this civic hatchback with fart pipe and LED wipers pulls up next to me and is rolling back, revving his engine, pulling forward (Yeah, i think this one actually was a stick, not an automatic in neutral ;-) )
My mom in the back seat was like (teasing me) "Rev back!".....
So i did....put it in neutral, rev'd a little, he reved way up there, i reved back.....put it in drive, and waited for the light to turn green.....i floor it (Hey, 0-60 in the van is what....10, 11 seconds maybe? probably more...flooring it for a few seconds doesnt meant speed haha)
Got up to about 25MPH (5 below the speed limit) and i was just a little ahead of him, but i had to turn off to go home.....
I got yelled at by my dad, but it was OK.....

Dare I mention that my dad was expecting me to 'chirp' the tires? (yeah, the vans tires are so hard that if you floor it from a dead stop they usually squeak a little bit)
It was all in fun...there was nobody else around....just thought it was kinda funny, and had to share of course :-P

That 3.0L engine is made by Mitsubishi, and is the same engine that's in the 3000GT and Dodge Stealth.

Chrysler also made minivans with a turbo 2.5L 4 Cyl.

hehe, tell you what. Go make friends with somebody, anybody, who's got a late model Z28 or SS, and get them to take you for a spin. That's hauling a** like there's no tomorrow.

Smoken if you can!!

I changed the tires on the 69 LeMans and put a set of Chevy ralleys on it. Today I nailed it from a dead stop and smoked both tires till I let up on the gas. I'll go back to the 10" wide tires and Boyd wheels this weekend. I was racing with myself??
