Hey All.
Ive been on this board for a long time now and Ive been thru the Import, ricer, ect... chat a bunch of times to. Id like to voice my oppinions on the subject.
First, I think most people dont like imports because there different. FWD cars with loud stereos and big wings. Lets face it. Our parents (most anyway) thought we were nuts and looked at us like we were crazy when we took the 55 Chevy family car(at the time) and beefed the motor up and swaped out the rear end and stuffed big tires on them and went racing around town.

Second. Just like Harley's, most parts for So Called American cars are either made in a foreign Country or by Cheap Foregin labor.

Last. I think with the Country turning so crapy with smog and all the emission control stuff, everyone deep down knows that in time to come the imports are gonna be the only thing that will meet emissions. And eventually, Ford, Chevy, Dodge will be making there cars front whell drive as well.

Im not a huge Ricer fan, but I repect anyone that tries to make a car faster. Heck, I drive a Gremlin. Not an Import, but about as weird as you can get. I dont like the Mouthy ricers, but dont like mouthy anyones to be honest. I think if we all just tried to get along as car fanatics, we could eliminate a lot of contraversy on here. If someone posts a question about an import on here and you dont know the answer,treat it as you do any question you dont know the answer to, Dont answer it! If theres a My ricer rocks, your Muscle car sucks post, Dump it and dont read it!

I'm not that much dead set against Ricers anymore espically the Informed ones. I was at the local car hangout last weekend in my little 4 Cylinder S-10, 5 V8 powered hotrods pulled up all camming pretty hard, they had never showed up at that spot before. When they stopped they said something about hearing that there were some fast cars that hung out at that spot. About 5 minutes later a few of the ricer kids came running up saying that the new guys were looking for some races and they told the new guys that my Formula was one of the fastest cars around that night. It was kinda funny the ricer kids had seen me and assumed that I was there in my Formy, I had to break their hearts by telling them that I wasn't racing that car anymore and that I didn't even take it out that night. So I would guess that me and most to the V8 people that I hang out with have gotten the respect of the ricers in my area. They won't even rev up their cars around us anymore.

The worst part of the whole thing was the new guys had some pretty fast cars, but they were being ****** just sitting there revving up their cars and doing burnouts and throwing rocks all over other peoples cars. If I would have had my freshly painted Formula there I probably would have ended up getting in a fight with one of them for doing burnouts around my car.

They were pretty much what me & my buddies call all cam & no stall or gears. They make a whole lot of noise to just run low 13's .

as long as a man is true to his cause (aka he didnt literally bolt a coffee can on his tail pipe and paint it blue, and paste a big R on his bumper) then you gotta let him be proud.

hell our 40 chevy 4dr was faster then that & it had a stock 350/350 combo in it, and we all know those cars aint lite..joe

We are all unique and in our own way different in our idea of this Hobby. Just like you don't see stock cars and dirt track cars running in the same race why would you expect stock car lovers to appreciate dirt track cars? There is a defined line between this part of the car hobby and the next. If the general public quit buying into this crap about euro and jap being better and quit buying the cars then this whole thing would turn around. But NO, these kids want something DIFFERENT and they will pay dearly for it.. Fewer jobs, a totally different list of car problems from us and they for the most part don't know one end of a wrench from the other. Did you hear me now? I said for the MOST PART.. There are a few and I do mean a FEW who wrench. I for one would like to see the turbine cars come back.. They were made for a few years, 65 -66 something like that then the idea was scrapped. I would like to work on one of those baby's, but thats me. I like the Rods and Muscle cars and enjoy this hobby. Just my opinion.

We got the same stuff here, little front wheel drivers with wings and loud base music.The drivers have shaved heads or wear baseball type hats on backwards.

True. People tend to dislike what they do not understand. People, in general, also don't like to take the time to learn something new because that takes time away from what they know and love already.

I find it interesting that most people on this site refer to imports as FWD. As if no imports are RWD and no domestics are FWD. A LOT of the import cars that have enthusiast followings are RWD or AWD. Supra, Corolla, 240sx, MR2, RX-7, Impreza, 300zx, etc, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. They're all RWD or AWD.

They already do. Most modern domestic cars are FWD econoboxes using similar technology to import econoboxes. Cavalier, Focus, Neon, Stratus, PT Cruiser, Grand Am, Grand Prix, Taurus, etc, etc, etc.
