all of the information i've found on the net, i think, said that '74 had hei and was also the last year for the 472. at first he said it was a 73, but i noticed the dis. in the pic. and asked if he was sure, he said not really but he's sure it's from the mid 70's. it could be anything. i'm kind of hoping it's a 75 or 76, because that means that its a 500. i'm not sure what it is, but it's mine and its big, lol. i'm gonna go down this weekend and check the stroke on it. that should clear it all up. the engine is at my new house that i'm moving into in june. it has a garage(sweet) and that will be where i'm doing the swap at.

You may be correct, but all 472's I've seen were point dist. The 74's were kind of an odd-ball, different heads and pistons. That's the one I have, if you change pistons you have to change heads also. And it came factory with points.

The Cadillac big block engines were offered in these year ranges.
