Been in this state a few times (5th engine going in, and two manual transmissions over its 20 year history)

The 383 sbc out.

It is a very tight fit. Would not have been able to go with the 454 sbc due to the increased stroke over the 427. I have confirmed that Scott's people (Mike) was correct that the oil pan was only 1" deeper than my modified pan, so a simple switch to Mickey Thompson's 26" diameter radial tire on the front will buy me my old road clearance, which at 3 1/2" wasn't much to begin with. I'll probably have to go to a low profile air cleaner as the intake manifold is taller than the one on the 383, which is easy. A clearance I'm not sure on yet is engine side covers to the new valve covers which are a bit taller than the 383. Now this could get expensive for a bodyman to pound out bulges like were done for the Ram's Horn exhaust manifolds and re-painted. But if I can't cover the 427, then it isn't a sleeper.

Not in focus, but shows the increased depth of this oil pan. The one I modified for the 383 was flush with the bell housing.

Of course Vince. Still have two GoPro camera mounts on the Track-T, one right behind the shorty windshield and the other above the passenger seat that shows tach and speedometer. I think you remember the latter, it was a video that stirred a hornet's nest here on the forum when I chased after my neighbor's kid on his crotch rocket.

Has anyone ordered items from Summit over the Internet? Those folks have their act together. Placed an order for two Mickey Thompson radial tires to get more ground clearance on Friday and specified the cheapest ground shipping knowing the T won't be done in a blink of the eye. Their system identifies the nearest dealer stocking an item and off it goes. In my case the Reno, Nevada dealer and in less than 24 hours of placing the order they were on my doorstep.

Yes sir, Summit has always had unbelievable shipping for me. I have bought from them just for their fast shipping a few times but I buy most all my parts from them whether it be for one of my Hot Rods or my daily drivers because of their wonderful customer service, quality and availability of parts.

Bob, I don't know that I would ever classify that car a "sleeper", but you can probably knock over a few tuner cars with that new baby. Too cool! I miss my T a little, if I would have kept it I would have had to stretch it out a bit, the knees under the jaw just didn't cut the mustard.

The March Meets in Famoso would make a good road trip.

dinger, March Meets a possibility. As to the sleeper aspect, when it is parked and folks are checking it out, the ones that are knowledgeable comment to the others "It is probably a Pinto 2.3 L four banger". Went to a lot of trouble making the hood and side cover lines belie that a V anything couldn't fit. Exhaust is underneath to carry out the deception. Of course they look in the cockpit and see a 5 speed stick, and they point out it must be a Mustang II trans. The cover of being a sleeper is blown when I start it though.

I buy from them all the time or at least it seems that way, I also have the same MT tires on my car though different size, almost next day service at times and phone help is always quick. sc

I think you may have to get summit back on the phone and get some headers for that thing! Post some video when you can and be safe (saw a couple of your last ones).

No room for headers, only room for the Ram's Horn.

Another vote for taking the headers outside of the frame rails! If anything gets in the way...that's what a welder is for!

You could always try some Sandersons

Then it wouldn't be a sleeper. Fully covered folks assume it is a Pinto 2.3 L 4 banger.

Two strikes against you.

1). Most folks younger than you and I wouldn't know what a Pinto is.
2). Any Gearhead worth his salt better know the rumble of a V-8 when they hear one and walk the other way immediately.

It all boils down to form vs. function. You decide.
